2 Hour Commute

As the time crept towards the two hour mark of my morning commute, I decided I needed to start a blog to relieve my transit stress and allow my fellow commuters to relieve their stress as well.. Please note I only live 30 minutes from the City yet my morning commute takes an hour and today it took two. I leave my apartment at 7:15 and today I got to work at 10:00. Ridic.

The following are the most frequently heard excuses for train delays:

1. Overhead wiring issues
2. Disabled train on the track
3. Disabled train in the tunnel
4. End door issues
5. People holding the doors open
6. Being held at a stop signal
7. Train traffic ahead
8. It's raining
9. It's snowing
10. It's sunny
11. It's Tuesday
12. Amtrak

Today there was a disabled train in the tunnel which is one of the more time consuming excuses because all the trains have to single track in and out of the City. Thanks to the constant breakdown of communication on Never Jolly Transit, riders were told that their train was cancelled (only to have it show up a minute later), delays were anywhere from 10 minutes (let's stay on the train, it's always 10 mins late) to 90 minutes (definitely get off and take the path). Naturally we were told 10 minute delays and then sat and sat between stations with no opportunity to get off the train.

I frantically typed a strongly worded email to Never Jolly Transit to let them know I was not pleased. I referenced the economy and may have told them they were costing me my job and that I was being replaced by someone who takes a reliable mode of transportation like Metro North. I then went to hit send and it told me my session timed out. How convenient that my complaint was erased into the internet abyss. .....and that's why i've set up this blog so I can complain without time limits. Lucky you! Please jump in with any grievances or funny commuter stories.
